Traveling with Your Pet?

Dear Pet Lover,

Professional pet sitters know firsthand the special bond that exists between pets and their people—we share it and see it every day. We are also glad to see a pet-friendlier society emerging, with the human-animal bond being accommodated as pets become welcome in more places. PSI pet sitters love caring for your pets in the comfort of your home. But with the opportunities increasing, we also want you to be well informed about traveling with your pet. Taking your pet on every trip may not be an option, nor is every pet a suitable traveling companion. We hope you can make the best decision for you and your pet after reading “Traveling With Your Pet?” And of course, when you’re looking for the best in pet sitting, look no further than PSI.

To Take or Not to Take, That is the Question
There are many factors to carefully consider before taking a companion animal along on a trip. Sometimes the answer is ,"Don't!" But when the answer is, "Let's go," PSI offers some helpful tips that should smooth the way.
How Will You be Traveling?
In any method of travel it is important to consider whether everyone, including your pet, will be comfortable and safe. No matter how you decide to travel, try to familiarize your pet with the travel conditions beforehand.
Home, Sweet Home!
Although it can be a lot of fun to travel with your pet, it may not be as exciting for Fluffy. Each pet has its own personality and will react in varying degrees to stress. Unfamiliar surroundings, changes in routine, food and water, as well as temperature change can cause undue stress and may become potentially harmful to your pet’s health. If your pet isn’t ready for travel consider leaving Fido or Fluffy in the comforts of their own home under the care of a professional pet sitter.
